The dedicated full-time nursing faculty teaches the 15-month curriculum, which runs from May through August of the following year.

High-achieving transfer students who have finished the prerequisite general education courses are eligible for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Accelerated Prelicensure program.
With full-time enrollment status, students enrolling in the Accelerated Pre-Licensure BSN will complete the program in four semesters, including the summers.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Accelerated Prelicensure program will be eligible to take the NCLEX national licensing examination after successfully completing the program.
They continue to outperform both state and federal averages for first-time passing rates.
Due to the program’s demanding schedule, students are required to keep their cumulative GPA at 3.0 each semester.
If a student’s cumulative GPA falls below 3.0 the student will have one semester to achieve the 3.0 requirement. If unable to achieve a 3.0 GPA, the student will have the opportunity to submit a change of major application and continue the BSN program in the standard Pre-Licensure program.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville
Through three semesters and one summer session, students with a bachelor’s degree can earn a Bachelor of Science (BS) with a major in nursing through the post-baccalaureate Accelerated Bachelor of Science option.
Students pursuing a second baccalaureate degree from the School of Nursing must complete a rigorous, well-defined curriculum that combines classroom education and clinical experiences.
Although completed more quickly, the coursework and clinical experiences are of the same high caliber as the standard first-degree baccalaureate path.
After successfully completing the option, students can take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN) to obtain their registered nurse licensure.
