Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine
Originally named the School of Veterinary Science and Medicine, the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine enrolled its first class of veterinary students in 1959.
Housed primarily in Lynn Hall on Purdue University’s campus in West Lafayette, Ind., the College is one of only 30 U.S. veterinary schools and the only veterinary college in Indiana.
Since the graduation of its first class of DVMs in 1963, the college has produced more than 3,000 veterinarians who now practice in all 50 states and fill important roles in government, industry and academia.
The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine focuses on globally advancing animal and human health and well-being through excellence in learning, discovery and engagement, as the leading veterinary college for comprehensive education of the veterinary team and for discovery and engagement in selected areas of veterinary and comparative biomedical sciences.
Adjacent to Lynn Hall is the Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, which provides vital diagnostic services to veterinarians and animal owners.
The College also offers associate and bachelor’s degrees in veterinary nursing, formerly veterinary technology, as well as graduate and post graduate programs within its three academic departments.
Also, the Veterinary Nursing Program began in 1975 and has graduated more than 900 veterinary nursing (AS-VT degree) and more than 250 veterinary nursing (BS-VT degree).

International Business College – Veterinary Technology
Veterinary technicians, or vet techs, are the first line of care for animals recovering from surgeries and illnesses.
They also provide routine care so animals can stay healthy.
Loving animals is important, but there’s a lot more to the job.
Vet techs understand medical terminology, are skilled in a variety of medical and lab procedures, and, of course, need to communicate well with pet owners.
Their Veterinary Technology program provides students with hands on learning under the supervision of Vet Tech or Veterinarian faculty members.
After you graduate from their AVMA accredited program you will be eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE).
Passing this exam is one of the steps required to become a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Indiana.
At International Business College, their Veterinary Technology faculty are all animal lovers and have real-world experience.
Their classes provide plenty of hands-on instruction. You will also spend 8 weeks in an externship where you will practice what you’ve learned and make industry contacts.
Throughout the program, you will be learning in a simulated veterinary office, which contains industry standard veterinary equipment.
Their facilities feature a kennel which houses dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, and more! You will also learn about large animal care.

During the Ross Veterinary Assistant program, students will be instructed to function as an assistant to a veterinarian and/or Veterinary Technician.
They will complete the program with an understanding of veterinary ethics and law, animal anatomy and physiology, terminology, animal care activities, and technology and equipment used.
Experienced training school instructors will give direction on software used, medical records and documentation, and administrative/clerical procedures and duties.
A graduate of this program should be prepared to work in an entry-level position in an animal clinic or hospital.
Also, the Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology degree program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills leading to entry-level employment in a variety of veterinary clinical settings and related fields.
Graduates of this program will be prepared to provide a wide range of clinical skills including animal patient care, laboratory procedures, medical imaging, anesthesia administration and monitoring, and surgical assistance for a variety of domestic animals.
