An accelerated Second-Degree Nursing Program is designed for individuals with a bachelor’s (or higher) degree in a non-nursing major, who wish to pursue careers as a professional nurse.
Accelerated Nursing Programs in New York
Students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing can complete their BS in Nursing program in as little as 14 months, thanks to their Accelerated BS in Nursing program.

Their accelerated BSN program for non-nurses makes it possible for motivated students to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in as few as 16 months.

Dominican University New York
Those who have a baccalaureate degree in another subject may apply for the 12-month Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Weekday Option.
The 58-credit curriculum follows an accelerated, back-to-back trimester approach and covers all the elements of the Traditional Nursing Option.
In addition, the ABSN Option begins each May. All graduates are eligible to take the state licensing examination (NCLEX).

Students who are prepared to begin the next chapter of their lives as registered nurses may find the 18-month Accelerated Nursing Program also known as the Rural Nursing Opportunities Program or RNOP.
To obtain a Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing, program participants must finish sixteen nursing courses.
Each course combines the academic and clinical material typically taught in a semester-long course. Courses are taught consecutively in 4-6 week blocks.

For qualifying students who hold a baccalaureate degree in a field other than nursing who want to pursue a bachelor of science (BS) in nursing, Hunter College offers the Accelerated Second-Degree (A2D) program.
Based on the current general bachelor curriculum, the 51-credit program is set up for adult students to finish over the course of 18 months of full-time study.
Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing exam.

Students in the Accelerated B.S. in Nursing program graduate with a bachelor of science degree in nursing, which qualifies them to take the NCLEX-RN exam and apply for registration as registered nurses.
After successfully completing the undergraduate requirements, students accepted into the dual degree program will be awarded a baccalaureate degree and move on to the M.S.

If prospective students have successfully completed the following prerequisite nursing courses before beginning the program, they are eligible to apply to the Accelerated 15-month Program: nutrition, chemistry (with lab), statistics, anatomy and physiology (I and II), microbiology, and developmental psychology.
The 15-month program is completed in four consecutive semesters of full-time study and can begin in the fall (September) or spring (January) semester.
By the end of the accelerated program, you will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain licensure.

Niagara University provides an accelerated 12-month nursing program for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another field and wish to pursue a second career as a licensed professional registered nurse.
In the accelerated program, a group of students proceed through the curriculum together starting in the spring semester using cohort-based instruction.
Upon successful completion of the program the student will be eligible to sit for the New York State Registered Nurse licensing examination (NCLEX).
